The affable actor who portrayed Gomer Pyle on 'The Andy Griffith Show' has passed peacefully at his home in Honolulu, Hawaii at 87 years old.
CBS reports, Nabors, who underwent a liver transplant in 1994 after contracting hepatitis B, died peacefully at his home in Hawaii after his health had declined for the past year, said his husband,Stan Cadwallader, who was by his side.
Cadwallader told CBS News that Nabors' underwent a series of tests on Wednesday, but the decision was made to bring him home from the hospital.
"Everybody knows he was a wonderful man. And that's all we can say about him. He's going to be dearly missed," Cadwallader said.
The coroner has not yet released Nabors' cause of death, but Cadwallader said it appears to be from natural causes.
After his days in fictional Mayberry, he reprised his role as Gomer in 'Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.' As a multi-talented entertainer, Nabors was in high demand in Las Vegas & other entertainment venues, especially for his fabulous opera style singing.
He finally grew tired of all the bright lights of stardom, & settled down in Hawaii, purchasing a large macadamia ranch. But through it all, achieved so much more than most of his TV contemporaries, including recording more than two dozen albums, & sang with the Dallas and St. Louis symphony orchestras. The evil mastermind of history's most grisly murder rampage, Charles Manson, is no longer stealing oxygen out of the air from worthy living humans.
TMZ reports, Debra Tate, sister of Manson's famous victim Sharon, said she received a call from the prison telling her Manson died 8:13 PM Sunday.

Manson was recently wheeled into Bakersfield hospital and escorted by 5 uniformed cops. Our sources had said at the time, "It's just a matter of time." He was covered in blankets and looked ashen in the gurney.

TMZ broke the story ... Manson was taken from Corcoran State Prison to the hospital back in January where he was being treated for intestinal bleeding.
As they reported ... Manson was supposed to undergo surgery but it was deemed too risky.
Manson has been locked up since his arrest in December 1969 for the Tate-LaBianca murders. He was convicted of conspiracy to commit the slayings, which occurred one day after the next in August 1969.
Manson was not present, but members of the so-called Manson Family slaughtered 5 people, including actress Sharon Tate, at her home in the Beverly Hills area. Manson's goal was to start a race war he called "helter skelter" ... from the Beatles song.
